  • Morflex is a specialty chemical manufacturer that produces organic esters, intermediates and is the world’s largest supplier of DEET, the main active ingredient found in most insect repellents. Located in Greensboro, North Carolina, Morflex employs approximately 100 people. Morflex was founded in 1927 as the Morton Chemical Company. In 1935, it became the Morton-Withers Chemical Company and it was acquired by Pfizer in 1957 as part of Pfizer Specialty Chemicals. In 1983, a group of employees purchased the operations from Pfizer and it was renamed Morflex. It operated as an ESOP until 1990 when it was purchased by Reilly Industries, Inc.

    Today Morflex, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Reilly Industries, Inc., a world leading producer of pyridine and pyridine derivatives with headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana.

    Morflex received ISO 9001 registration in January 1994, which was most recently renewed in February 2003. ISO 9000 is a series of international quality assurance standards developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in Geneva, Switzerland.

    Morflex has an active quality improvement process in place and is committed to continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental performance. The company actively participates in Responsible Carea , through its participation in the American Chemistry Council (ACC) and is also a member of the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers' Association (SOCMA).
